The arrival:

A few little tidbits of info for those interested, because man, there is just no time around here anymore! How do those of you with more than one do it?

I didn’t get to have a VBAC, but the recovery from this cesaerean has been much easier (not that it’s fun by any means), and I was able to learn more about why the first one had to happen with Sam. That has given me some unexpected closure and let me stop being so hard on myself. There really wasn’t anything I could have done differently that first time around that would have resulted in a vaginal birth, nor could I have changed anything this time. And I’m now ok with that.

Robert was born nearly a week early but weighed 8 lbs. 10 oz., 6 oz. more than Sam who was 4 days late. He is almost identical to how Sam looked when he was an infant.

My water broke in the baby pool at our apartment complex…while I was standing up so it’s not like it was hidden by the water of the pool or anything since the pool is like 2 feet deep…nice…

As I was walking through the gate at the pool, one of my old lady neighbors commented that I was “about to pop.” Wisdom, people. Wisdom.

And now let me just introduce Robert to ya’ll and I’ll try to be back again soon.

  9. He’s adorable! Congrats!

As for how moms of two do it - I’m only three months in, and still trying to work it out. So far I’ve learned that if one of them is content, the other won’t be. Seems to be the way of the universe. But it does get easier. Three months in, and it’s already a little easier than when Mira first arrived.

  16. He is SO beautiful!

The adjustment from 1-2 is rough. It took me a good many months to really get in a groove. But each day yu will find it gets easier and easier. My littlest will be 1 next week and I can finally say I have a pretty good handle on things.

Now if I could just figure out how to get the two of them to get along!!

  23. Congratulations Beth!!! He is adorable.

The adjustment from 1-2 took a few months. It does get easier. The best lesson I learned is that both kids won’t always be happy and that’s okay. Also, I tried to alternate who got mom’s care first. It wasn’t always fair to #1 that the baby got my first response. I tried to shake it up some. It doesn’t hurt either kid to cry sometimes :) Good luck, I know you’ll do great!!!

  24. How sweet–a big congratulations to you and your family. ANd I love the last picture where Sam is holding his new brother. And don’t worry, things will get easier–I remember panicking when I was due with number two and quit my job and everything because I thought I’d never manage it all. Now I look back and laugh. If I have a day with just two of them around I’m thinking it’s a vacation :)

It’s amazing how motherhood improves your abilities that way.

  30. Ooooh I was on vacation and I totally missed these last updates. I didn’t know yet that you had your baby boy.

CONGRATULATIONS! He looks totally adorable which was to expected :). I hope the ceasarian went well and that you have recovered well by now. I hope he’s feeding well and giving you enough rest. Enjoy your enlarged family!

    Woohoo! this is so cool.
