‘Tis my 200th Post, ‘Tis my very first GIVEAWAY!
That’s right people, it’s my 200th post here at the old Haircut. Technically I should have a lot more, but the 12 month hiatus during that second pregnancy and then the first few months of having two kids really put a damper on the frequency of posting - I think I probably wrote maybe 10 entries max during that time. ANYWAY…
I wanted to thank you guys for sticking around during that time, as well as to all you bloggers who I am just meeting now that I’m doing this again. It always meant so much to me that I heard from some of you checking in on me, and that some of you are still here despite the fact that I disappeared without a word. And even more than that, I just want to thank you for making blogging so much fun. I honestly had no idea what this would be for me when I started, but I quickly learned that it was something I needed in order to keep me sane. The community of you all, learning about you and sharing my own crap with you, well, I friggin’ love it. So thank you, bunches and bunches. I have no intention of disappearing ever again.
And to thank ya good and proper, I thought it would be nice to do a good old fashioned giveaway, my very first. And I must say, the prize is awesome…because I picked it.
You know that magazine that I talk about all the time, Brain, Child? I told you about it here, many moons ago, and then I mentioned it also here, at the end of my depressing post? Don’t read that last one now - it’s giveaway time. In that first post I talked about what a smart magazine it was (it is, after all, “the magazine for thinking mothers”), and two years later I feel even more strongly about its worth. This magazine is not filled with fear inducing guides to your baby’s many stages/mommy make-overs/things you should buy/etc. No, it’s mostly essays, a little fiction, and some current parent-related news. Every issue makes me laugh, some issues have made me cry, and always I learn something new. Go check out a few pieces from the current issue and see what I mean. And then enter this giveaway and find out for free!
The ladies at Brain, Child would like to bestow a one year free subscription to one of you lucky gals (Or guys? Are there any guys here other than The Hubs? And my dad?). All you have to do is leave a comment on this post by Friday, June 27th at midnight (EST). And you don’t even need a blog, just an email where I can reach you to arrange your awesome subscription, so come on out of hiding you lurkers.
And no, I’m not getting anything to do this - I really just love it that much. I even sent them an essay once and they rejected it (but they were very nice about it and had at least read it through:), and yet I am still doing this - now that’s love, people. Go ahead, win a subscription so that you can spend the next year reading each issue thinking in the back of your mind, Wow, that Beth, she sure was right…

The cover image alone is enticing, then add your accolades? Enter me in the contest, Mama!
Sounds great!
Cool!! I’ve flipped through a couple issues at the magazine rack and B&N before. I’d love to have a subscription.
Oh, fun! This looks like a good read.
And did I mention your kids are REALLY cute?
Sucking up never hurts, right?
This sounds like a great magazine. It’s so irritating when magazines try to freak you out about what you’re doing wrong or not doing at all or what’s wrong with your children. This sounds very refreshing, please enter me for that subscription!
Happy 200!
Enter my name, please.
I’m in!
I must admit I have never heard of this magazine till now. It must not be advertised on Noggin. LOL If we are not outside they get a few mins of this! I really could use something to read while relaxing in my hammock watching the kids play…And then I woke up. Well I am usually sitting on a bench but a hammock sounds more relaxing. Still a good read would be nice. Please enter my name and I will keep my legs crossed ( two kids is enough for me ).
Congrats on the 200th post I just started and that seems like a milestone way off in the distance. Thanks
Hello! I’d love to win!
Steph
Well piffle-dee-dee, sign me up!
Of course you are right! You are always right. Since my husband went out and purchased CD’s for me upon your suggestion (Stellastar) I think you know I/we trust your judgment implicitly. Good luck to whomever wins!
If they deliver to Canada, I’d love to enter too. I am glad you are posting regularly again.
Jenn
Enter me! I need a good magazine! I’m so bored with mine.
Thanks for letting me know–so nice of you!
Never heard of this one before but I’m feelin’ the groovy chick with pearls on the cover so consider me entered!
And yay for your 200th post. I’m inching ever closer to my 100th and have been working diligently on my 100 things.
Well count me in, girl!
I would love to read a magazine that isn’t about celebrities or why I would look great if I spent $980 on one outfit so please count me in as well!

Too funny! I just posted MY 200th with a giveaway! What a coincidence!
I’ve heard lots about this magazine, but never read it. If I don’t win I might have to subscribe anyway.
Hi, Beth. I stumbled upon your blog a few months ago and added you to my google reader. I LOVE everything you write! Thank you!
Hooray for Brain, Child. I only buy this magazine when I am feeling I have a magazine budget to share and then I pass it along to other moms. I live in a co-operative and you can be sure that my subscription would be shared in the community!
This magazine sounds great… I’ll have to check it out.
What a fun giveaway. I realize the contest is over, I just wanted to pipe in and say that I hope the winner enjoys her prize!
Beth, this is too cool and yes, I would love to win this giveaway!!!! It seems so great.
Congrats on your 200th posting. Great Job!!!!
I’ve heard this is a good mag and I liked their website. I’d love a subscription!
