Planning to Vacate

Heading out of town soon. No, not to Blogher! In fact, this is the place to come this week if you are incredibly jealous and bitter that you weren’t able to be at Blogher, because I’m going to officially deem that topic off-limits. No, we’re heading “Down the Shore,” as the area residents like to say. We’ll be back at the same place where Sam took his first steps (oh, it was so weird just looking at those old pictures of him…) just two years ago, and judging by the way Robby has claimed my laundry basket as a walker, I’m starting to wonder if I won’t have a similar announcement upon our return next week.

Guess what though - I’ve set up some wonderful guest posters for you all! No, I don’t believe I’m one of those big old money making blogs that requires guest posters when I step away from the computer; I just thought it would be FUN. You know, fun? Like, there are lots of blogs out there worth reading and if you haven’t found them yet I want to introduce you to them, just in case. I’m very excited about the whole thing, and I hope you all have fun next week . . . without me . . . just like Blogher . . .

BTW, for all you other East coasters that maybe don’t know this (I only recently found out) there is, in fact, a festivus for the rest of us. Blogher is having a Reach Out Tour in the month of October in several other locations. I plan to hit the one in DC on October 13. You with me?

Oh, and for those of you who are still trying to simmer down, I did get an email from someone at Cookie, directing me to Amanda Peet’s public apology, for what it’s worth.

  1. I volunteered to be a guest blogger recently. The bloggy deadline is today, and I JUST DECIDED what to write about. This after I sent a completely dreadful first “guest blog post” to the blog’s owner. I’m amazed she’s still letting me write after that debacle. Well, the “debacle” was just last night, and I’m sending what will end up being the actual post tonight, but you know what I mean…

Anyway, enjoy your time off, and we’ll see you when we get back.

  2. Hey Beth! Festivus for the rest of us…the phrase always brings a smile!
The DC one is only 2 hours (if traffic isn’t evil) but it’s on a school day for us…will require some finagling if it can happen at all….

But knowing you will be there is certainly incentive increasing! ;)

    Have a great trip!

  3. Have a great trip! Take some great pictures.

  4. Have a gooten zee trippin’ as the saying goes… and as far as AP’s “apology”… well, it was quite well written and such, but the fact is, the issues are NOT so very cut and dry as she makes them out to be. I doubt very seriously that she has actually taken the time to look at the other side of the fence. Every single bit of the “apology” article sounded like so much bias-bias-slant-and-rebuttal from one source.

I know that kind of argument when I spot it, cuz when I’m sloppy I do the same thing. Don’t like it any better coming from a celeb with a wide open magazine forum than I do from my own stupid mouth. Makes me halfway wonder if she put the inflammatory remark in just so she could go back and get some more licks in via an “apology.” Because that’s what this is: More licks, and likely waaaay more than they would have EVER given her in the original write-up. Meh.

  5. Ok, I just had so much fun reading all about Mandy Pete! Mandy seems appropriate for the unfortunate shananagans.

Poor gal. I hate when I stick my foot in my mouth that bad.

Have so much fun on the trip!

  6. Maybe “stick my foot in my mouth” isn’t the phrase. It was more like “doh” from a simpson episode ;)

  7. HAve fun! We’re going next week on vacation, too! Can’t wait.

  8. Have fun at the shore! We just back from the beach and it was beautiful. I am hoping to make the DC Blogher, but I will be back to work then so I’m not sure I can get off. I’m going to look at the calendar when I get back. If I can get off then I’m in!!

  9. I WAs going to DC but, I think I am going to go to Boston. I have heard from a pretty trustworthy source that the swag may be better in Boston. Hmmm…

If you decide to go to Boston. We have a caravan of PMB’s going. Depending on where you live you are welcome to hitch a ride. Email me.. Let’s talk!
