Excuse me, but weren’t we done here?
Want to know the first thing Sam said to me when he woke up this morning?
“I think we should get a new baby. A girl baby. We should get a girl baby.”
And as if that wasn’t enough, just a few days ago Hubby came downstairs saying, “You know, I was just thinking about how fun it would be to have a girl . . .”
All right, gentleman, LISTEN UP. Last I checked we were all done here, so everyone needs to just settle down. I do believe that just last week we were celebrating a FIRST BIRTHDAY in our house? Yes - here is proof: one year old eating first birthday cake.
So ya’ll need to take your Baby Fever and let it just roll right off, kay?
And I know I don’t need to tell you all why I’m truly scared here . . . because I’ve been feeling it this summer too, The Fever, that is. And every time I feel the pang I give myself a good smack in the face and shake it off!

uh-oh……the empty womb syndrome. Good luck!
Oh, I’d be no help there. I’m thinking YAY! She’s going to have another one! I think people all should have lots of kids.
But if you’re done, you’re done. I get that too.
I wonder why Sam was thinking of that today?
that’s hilarious. I am told EVERY DAY that we need to get a new baby… or a big kid. or a flippin’ long term house guest. I think all pickiness has pretty much dissapeared.
ha ha! I just asked the hubs last night about whether we should have a third … but then recalled my 3 y.o.’s temper tantrum and quickly changed my mind.
Found you through Jo-Lynne’s site — I’ve been enjoying your blog! And, you could so handle another one. They say two kids makes a family and three kids makes a circus. It’s true — but I wouldn’t trade my circus for anything in the world!
Of course, as I say, if you get pregnant for a certain gender hope, you’ll get 2 of the other!!
Don’t do it in hopes of a girl! Or if you do… hedge your bets and get gender specific IVF! Seriously… know a lady with SEVEN FREAKING BOYS who finally did that to get a girl. Costs less than adoption if you are a fertile. Just sayin’.
come borrow my girls. it will totally cure you of any inkling.
we really wanted a boy for #3 and got lucky. i totally was expecting to have another girl!
Aw c’mon. One more never hurt anyone. The more the merrier right?
I pushed my luck for a boy, long after I thought I was done. Of course, circumstances were a tad different, but you see how that one turned out. He’s here now, and it wouldn’t be the same without him.
I can suggest a book that worked for me. “How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby.”
Good luck!
Weird, Miss A just did that to me yesterday…
Yeah, I hear that. Yet, I also keep telling myself and everyone else…We ARE done. It’s something about having such a sweet tempered second child that makes you think…well, maybe.
ahh sometimes i feel the FEVER too and then try to remind myself we’re DONE. but then i think….. maybe i can do it. because the days are LONG but the YEARS are SHORT so maybe just maybe….
I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL.
Of course, I already have three kids. BUT OOOOOH, I would love a fourth. My husband, however, is DONE. Sigh.
Do it!
I love how Sam said you should “get” a baby girl…if only it were that easy.
LOL!! That is funny. I am with you - We are done here too!! No fever for me either. I love me some babies, but I am crazed as it is with two…no need to try and make this situation any more complicated!
You keep that baby fever over there, will ya? No more babies here, please!
Ooh, I have baby fever too, and we are definitely done. Unless some sort of miracle takes place, which has happened in the past so….
I think babies growing up gives me baby fever.
You have certainly touched a nerve with this topic! Do we EVER move on from baby fever? Is that the primary purpose of menopause?! I’m 44 and my hubby and children are saying the same thing: We want another baby! Hubby had the V six years ago, so there isn’t much chance of this happening. They are just dreaming out loud!
I think it always happens after the first birthday cake is cut….
Happy Birthday!!!! He looks more like Sam each time I see a photo.
Your little Birthday Babe is a cutie!
With a face like that how can your resist the Baby Fever?
I have felt the same way. I’m suddenly wanting another little baby so much. Thinking that I may never have a cuddly little baby again makes me want just one more.
But I’m trying to hold back, too. We’re going to revisit the topic when Mira is three, but until then I need to get over it.
