Investing
Robby turned 18 months old recently. And Hubby and I realized over dinner one night that Sam was around this age when I became pregnant with Robby. I have to admit, when we thought about that we were both kind of like, what were we thinking?! Right now having another baby is just about the last thing on my mind. Perhaps it’s just an indication that we are in fact done, or maybe it’s that I’m still in the throes of the early years, with two kids under the age of four.
I like to think of their being so close in age as an investment on my part (and know I’m being a bit tongue-in-cheek here. We have NO regrets. I mean, look at that face). It’s hard now, with a 3 1/2 year old and a 1 1/2 year old, but one day, when they’re older (please not too much older!), they’ll entertain each other and play together, and I’ll actually be able to sit down once in a while, right? RIGHT?

you will. really.
my oldest are now 6 and 4 1/2. and they will play in their room for two hours at a time. they are bestest friends! its great.
um, that’s what I am banking on. we are going back and forth on when exactly we should start trying for the second and believe it will happen soon enough to ensure the babes are close in age!
I know that is the idea, but I don’t know first hand! Cute picture:)
They WILL sit together! (They may “mess” with each other, but isn’t that what siblings are for?
)
You have beautiful young ‘uns by the way.
That’s the story… That’s what every harried mom of two toddlers tells me! I’m not buy it yet, though…
Seriously, it is very possible that they will entertain each other instead of harrass each other like most close siblings I know. Really seriously, my mom had four kids in five years, and they all get along great. (I was the accident that came 5 1/2 years later - the apple of everyone’s eye. I still suffer from spoiledness.)
Very well said. I think many mothers (including me) are in the same boat.
Yes, it will happen. My boys are almost exactly two years apart and now they can play together for hours. Sometimes they fight, but that is normal.
Suuuuurreeee… You keep on telling yourself that….
Um, well, mine are not too far off from yours, at almost 3 and almost 5. And I am STILL waiting for them to entertain each other.
Mostly, they just get into double the trouble
I hope so…
Or, you could wait until Sam’s 9, then have another one, like we did. I’m totally serious, a 10 year old, a 7 year old and 1 year old are probably the best age spread ever!!
(and yes, terrifically cute picture!)
I have noticed a huge change recently in Miss A’s interest in Baby B. It has gone from indifference to interest. And constant obsessing about how when she is a big girl they can play this and that together etc. I am dreading the teen years however. We are seriously going to have to renovate to add another bathroom before then!
Absolutely!
There will be a day when the noise level gets so crazy inside that you will say, “out! everybody outside! And unless somebody is bleeding or seriously maimed, do not come back in until I call you!”
And they will happily be outside! And you will be inside reading blogs in peace!
You let me know when that happens, Beth. That was our plan too. Still waiting for it to work out …
That sure is a darling face!
I have been thinking about being done since I gave birth for the first time. I think I am a wimpy mom because of that. Go you, planning your family the way you did. I DO think they’ll be best buddies forever and you’ll definitely get breaks because of it!
