Out of My League

I was wringing my hands in anticipation. Would my child be the one to make them lose? How would he handle it if he was tagged out? What if he wasn’t able to hit the ball within three swings and had to walk away in shame? What if someone made fun of him and he wanted to quit and for the rest of his life he never wanted to take a risk and try anything ever again and was miserable and it all came back to this one day, this single moment and it was all because I signed him up too early and he’d never forgive me and be a messed up mess and . . .

  1. Too funny. Dad and I both laughed out loud. What do you mean a family of no sports? : ) You did gymnastics and swimming. Had a few tennis lessons and dad did a lot of tennis while you were young. Me– nothing. And of course there was field hockey (for about a day).
