Oh, Bounteous Bounty!
Help; I’m buried in produce! Ok, not really. But I do have an awful lot. Because of the cool, wet season so far, the farmers from my CSA are in a bit of a pickle producing a lot of the regular items that would be perfect for any regular hot summer. Instead though, the greens have been thriving.
Behold:
Potatoes, raspberries, cherries, candy onions (whatever those are), beets, and zucchini are of the non-leafy-greens variety. But also loaded onto that counter top we have kale, chard, lettuce, cabbage and dandelion greens.
After listing each item and writing down how I intend to use it, I think I’ve got it under control. Among other things we’ll be trying some Baked Kale Chips, a Noodle, Chard and Fontina Torte, and an Herbed Goat Cheese, Roasted Beet and Watercress Salad where I’ll probably replace the watercress with the dandelion greens because I am SO NOT going out and buying more greens. And for our little 4th of July cook-out tomorrow we’ll have some fresh cole slaw and grilled zucchini. And meat. And Sangria.
Meanwhile, our own garden has started to produce. And that tomato is supposed to look like that - it’s a Yellow Cherry, and it’s oh so yummy.

Is it more fun to cook with new pans? You beat Dad with the tomatoes. He has one he plans to eat tomorrow– ready or not, because he is determined to have a home grown tomato by the 4th of July (He doesn’t have a green house). Enjoy the neighborhood picnic.
I know I should be commenting on the produce, but of course I’m all like “ooh, love the backsplash!”
That noodle torte looks yummy!! Will have to make that for my fontina-loving kiddos.
I want to come to your house to help with some of that bounty… eating it, I mean.
I’m sorry. I was paying attention until you said “sangria.”
Can I come?!?
Man… your CSA box kicks butt! I was gonna buy into a share down here, but they told me to expect like 15 lbs. of collared greens a week and radishes and green beans. I was like…. uh, no thanks, buddy.
This is awesome. We were advised against joining our local CSA because it’s not that great. I’m jealous!
Steph
Wow, looks good and healthy! Sydney would be so jealous that you are actually eating dandelion greens. She tried to eat some out of our yard last month. Hmmm, wonder if I could see them? Ha ha. I have never tried white wine Sangria, sounds good. I’ve been making another popular Spanish drink called Tinto de Verano, which is basically a wine spritzer. Red wine with lemon or my favorite, grapefruit soda with ice. Quick and easy.
