For From Dirt To Dinner this week we are featuring tomatoes. I know what you’re thinking - they’re not in season yet! And yep, you’re absolutely right. BUT it’s a great time to start growing your own seedlings right about now, so that when that season does come you’ll be picking them right from your own vines.

Kate has had a bit of tomato trouble in the past (haven’t we all?), so she put together a great list of questions for me all about growing tomatoes, particularly in containers. She’s covered some very important topics and asked about several common problems I think people have when growing tomatoes.

I did my best to answer them based on my limited experience and extensive reading, resulting in a veritable Tome of Tomatoes - she has to publish it in two installments. SO later in the week will be part 2 on tomato FAQs over at her place, and then I’ll do my own tomato planting demonstration post here showing how Sam and I planted our tomatoes in containers last weekend - how we did it, what we used, photos of Sam shoveling compost into pots, etc.
