The Fmell is Back And Merry Christmas

I hope you are all have a beautiful, wonderful, happy holiday. We’ve driven around to see the lights. We’ve left out cookies. We’ve read ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas. Shhh…but Santa has already come tonight:)

Hubby is currently wrapping my gifts, which gives me a few moments to share this with you. We all remember “What’s that smell?” right? And then there was the equally impressive “What’s That Fmell?

Well, it was said again tonight, on this fine Christmas Eve, and this time it was said by me: “What the hell is that smell?!”

sweet potatoes

Hubby likes marshmallows on his sweet potatoes. I tried to broil them for just a moment to brown them a bit (Yes, I have successfully made them before). What’s that fmell? That would be flaming yams. (Yes, they were actually flaming, as in on fire.)

Merry Christmas, everyone!

  1. Something about that picture reminds me of Mount Doom in the Lord of the Rings. Can’t you just picture Gollum slowly drowning in the sea of molten sweet potatoes?

  2. You crack me up with your cooking Beth! I commend you for being so brave and sharing all your fabulous “recipes” with us :-) I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a less smelly new year!! Hope to see you soon.

  3. Hope the rest of the meal came out better. Merry Christmas. Love ya.

  4. FWIW, if I’m cooking and someone says, “What’s that smell?”, it’s the result of something being in flames.

  5. Oh, I hope they were tasty! I actually like food well done!

  6. I don’t know what’s worse: Burned marshmallows on sweet potatoes, or sweet potatoes and marshmallows cooked properly. (I’m not a fan of the yam…)

Hope you had a great day!

  7. Don’t some people prefer their marshmallows blackened?

  8. RIP, marshmallows.

The sweet potatoes look like they fared much better.

  9. Oh dear. Were the yams salvageable? I’m guessing not. What is it with fire this holiday season?

  10. Way too funny! I have done the exact same thing on many an occasion!! We are HUGE yam lovers in our house so that particular dish always comes out with big dinner feasts. And, you would think that I would learn my lesson after the first couple of times …..

  11. [...] my husband can make a Lord of The Rings reference out of just about anything. He already compared my sweet potatoes to Mount Doom, remember? (see comment [...]
