What to do, What to do
Both of the boys are still asleep. It’s 8:11am. I don’t even know what to do with myself…well, obviously I do because here I sit. And I think the cats are chasing a mouse downstairs so I’ll just be staying away from that. Ah, coffee…
Today I am older. Yesterday was my birthday. Here’s my advice, if you want to get a lot of birthday well wishes join facebook. I joined facebook last week. Is it contributing to the negelct of my little blog? Probably. I still say it’s fun. And no, I still have no intention of trying Twitter again.
Hubby got me tickets to a CONCERT for my birthday. I can’t even remember the last time I went to a concert, but I obviously know it was before I was pregnant with Sam so at least 4 years. I’m very excited. But I can’t say I’m surprised. And that’s because I might have hinted to him about what I wanted. And by hinted I mean I might have sent him an email. The email might have said something like this:
“In case you didn’t think of it yesterday, this is your official notice (in writing) that what I want for my birthday is tickets to see the Killers. If, for any reason, you do not want to get me this, or there is even the slightest chance that you are going to FORGET to get tickets in time, then tell me now so I can take care of it. Otherwise, you will be officially in charge of making certain that this DOES HAPPEN, and I will not nag you about it since it is to be my gift.”
And by “might have said something like this,” I, of course, mean I just copied and pasted that from the message I actually sent under the subject heading “Notice.”
I’ve always heard clear communication is the key to a good marriage.

8am and still asleep? wow…would never happen here! Happy belated bday! lol at your very subtle birthday wishing!
happy belated! a.) totally jealous that your boys sleep past 8. I just want LL to sleep past 6:30! b.) even more jealous you will be attending the killers concert. c.) 110% agree that clear communication is a key to a good marriage.
enjoy the freezing temps
happy birthday!
Such a funny e-mail.
Happy Birthday!
Jenn
Aw, happy birthday! Have fun at the concert, lucky!
Yup! That’s pretty clear!
I’m glad you’re going to the concert. I’ve never heard of The Killers. I think we’re about the same age (ish). I am completely out of it, apparently.
I’m Facebooking and Twittering, and, yes, my blog is suffering. But that’s o.k. Blogging every day last year was a LOT, and I’m still not sure what the “new face of Rebecca online” will look like, even if I hadn’t added Twittering and Facebooking.
So, happy belated birthday, enjoy the concert, and I hope you got a little more quiet time before the kids woke up.
1. happy birthday!
2. i will be friend requesting you on facebook in just a minute.
3. i hope this is going to be a cool girls’ night out for you, unless he REALLY likes the killers too. my husband is kind of not fun to go to concerts with…
i love the killers…
and here here about facebook. Furthermore, if you want to announce to the world that you are drinking milk, and hope to have seven people comment on this mundane fact- facebook is also the place to go.
I loathe Twitter. I think I’m missing something.
Happy Belated birthday! My birthday is this month too and I’m begging for tickets to see Death Cab… Wow, both of our bands sounds so grim and evil. LOL.
Happy birthday! And I’m glad your husband is good at following directions.
happy birthday!! Very blunt and to the point.
Hmmm. You and my hubby must be related.
He is very clear about what he wants for his birthday or usually just takes care of it himself. Have a great time at the concert!
Happy Birthday! (again!) How nice of the boys to give you the give of sleeping in. I hope that by the time my birthday rolls around my baby will give me even 5 hours of sleep in a row. That would be glorious. And she’s got until August so that should be plenty of time.
The Killers. I’m weeping a bit here. Both in happiness for you that you get to go and sadness for me that I live in such a barren wasteland that they won’t be touring nearby… Really. I am thrilled for you. And I expect a full report and possibly a video made from a cell phone of Brandon Flowers in his feather jacket singing ‘Human’ or ‘Read my Mind’.
Totally love the Killers. And Happy B-day… a day late.
Happy Birthday
I don’t twitter,
AND I do the same thing with my husband, It’s easier;
He’s super sweet but I’d rather get exactly what I want for a birthday…
Happy Bday again, are you 25 yet?
More belated wishes for a Happy Birthday!
And the Killers!? Have a fabulous time. Love them.
Hey you!! Happy belated birthday. If you care to add me on Facebook, send me a friend invite! Kristi Crawford Armstrong.
Happy Birthday!
Love the “subtle” hint to the hubby! I am so taking that one and using it!
Happy very belated birthday! I love the email to your husband, I have to be equally explicit with mine. It took me a few years to figure that out, but now it’s all good ;o)
[...] alas, I am forced to go and see THESE PEOPLE TONIGHT! Remember, my birthday gift from the Hubs? So yeah, I gotta go shave my legs and blow up some silver balloons for the “Moon Room” [...]
[...] The Killers concert was the next day. It was great. We were in the 4th row. Yeah. Awesome. And I didn’t even feel *that* old. We returned to find out the kids had given their sitter a horrible time when it was time to go to sleep. She was quite frazzled. I suppose one night won’t really hurt anyone though - they all survived. [...]
